LEON’s response: “We are delighted that you are satisfied. In response to your suggestions, incorporating examples from your own business is indeed an excellent idea. For a future session, we could ask the client to provide us with some historical data graphs to illustrate the distinction between products managed on the basis of forecasts and those managed on the basis of thresholds. Reducing the duration of the theoretical section on the ‘fixed date/fixed quantity’ approach is more tricky: it is based on just a single slide (with no exercise). This section allows us to present all the cases of stock-based procurement (fixed or variable date/quantity) and to introduce Wilson’s economic quantity. At two to three minutes, it remains useful, even if the method is rarely used in practice 😊
However, as you pointed out during the debrief, placing greater emphasis on forecast-based replenishment, DDMRP and probabilistic approaches is a very interesting avenue that we will explore further.”
